What a game! Bedard pitched an amazing game and the powerful O’s offense came through and scored 7 runs to cruise to an easy victory. Even better, though, is that I was able to attend the game with a great group of guys for Nick’s bachelor party! We had great seats (Section 68, Row UU, Seats 1-5) down the third base side, and it was a beautiful evening.
We started off the night by meeting at Pickle’s Pub, which is across the street from Camden Yards. Our group consisted of Nick, his friend Scott, his brother Sam, my brother Shawn, and me. We warmed up with a few beers at the bar, and watched the Preakness (that was a pretty exciting race). Before we knew it, though, it was close to game time. Our group made its way to the stadium, and located our section. At least we thought it was our section. The signs were a little tricky to understand (that whole reading thing) and we plopped down in a section that was right next to where we were supposed to sit. After about 5 minutes of making friends with those around us and cheering on the early events of the game, we were asked to show our tickets to one of the ushers. Embarassed when we discovered that we couldn’t read, we picked ourselves up and were kindly shown to our proper seats. From that point on, we supported our local Miller Lite vendor, and cheered like crazy to overcome the occasional roar of the suprising amount of Philly fans that were crowding the stadium. After the game, we made our way to Fell’s Point and hung out at a couple of bars in that area.
I had an awesome time, and I think the other guys did as well, but most importantly I hope that Nick enjoyed himself. Oh, and I hope you were able to make your graduation without feeling too horrible in the morning, Scott.
Thanks for putting everything together Sam!
The following pictures were taken by Scott, with his cell phone. The first two are simply shots of the field from where we were sitting. The third picture shows the lucky man, Nick, in the foreground, with me and Nick’s brother Sam in the background. Hidden from view are my brother Shawn and the cameraman, Scott.
This game’s blown call is brought to you by LensCrafters. In the 5th inning, Brian Roberts belted a ball to left-center, and though he would have had an easy double, Roberts attempted to stretch it out to a triple. Roberts slid into third as the throw came in, and he appeared to be safe, but was called out by the third base umpire. Replays also seemed to indicate that he was, in fact, safe. LensCrafters: “You’ll see, we’re better.”
