Mariners vs. O’s - Game 3

The O’s were able to break out the brooms, and sweep the Mariners. Cabrera pitched well enough to hold Seattle to 1 run over 7 innings, and the Orioles tacked on 5 thanks to 3 home runs from Mora, Palmeiro, and Tejada. Sammy made a spectacular catch to stop a potentially big inning for the Mariners (top highlight on Sportscenter), and Jorge Julio and Steve Reed came in from the bullpen to close out the final 2 innings (though Reed gave up a solo homer). I’m a little worried about the amount of baserunners that are being left on, and also by the fact that all of the runs came on homers. Home runs aren’t easy to come by, and I hope that we don’t rely on them for scoring. We’re a great offensive club, and I’d like to see those bats get hot again with base hits, not just bombs.

SEA 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 2 6 0
BAL 2 0 0 0 0 1 0 2 X 5 10 0

The O’s swept the series, 3-0, and now have a record of 30-16.
