O’s vs. Boston - Game 1

May 30th, 2005 Baseball O's

A great start to the 4-game series! David Newhan finally had his breakout game of the season and drove in 5 runs to help the O’s beat up on the Red Sox, 8-1. Rodrigo Lopez had another spectacular outing, allowing only 1 run in his 8 innings of work. Lopez started to get into trouble in the 8th, but was able to get out of a bases-loaded jam after giving up the only run of the game for Boston. Newhan belted a grand slam in the 3rd inning, just as it appeared as though the O’s were again going to fail to capitalize on a great scoring opportunity. A great start to the series for the O’s, I hope they’re able to build some momentum with this win, especially since they are facing a division rival and the O’s will have to take on the Tigers (who just beat up on them in Baltimore) after this series.

A perfect day

May 30th, 2005 Family Me Meg

Besides the one downpour early in the morning that soaked the groomsmen (the super-smart groom had an umbrella), the day was absolutely perfect for the wedding and reception for Nick and Jen. I don’t think things could have been planned any better! I started off my day by heading over to Salisbury early (around 10:45 am) to pick-up the replacement jacket for my tux. My original jacket was a wee bit too large, causing me to look like I was swimming in it. That sounds even worse when you consider that I’m 6′3″ and 200 lbs. (I’m a hoss). ;) Since pictures were to be held at 11:00 am at Salisbury University’s rose garden, I was a little worried that I’d be late and cause everything to be pushed back (which is completely unacceptable when it’s your sister’s wedding day).

Stabbed by a hanger

May 30th, 2005 Golf Me Health Scary

I was attacked by a hanger. Normally, this wouldn’t be post-worthy, but it had to happen as I was returning the tuxedos from my sister’s wedding, and on the same day that I was going to play golf in the afternoon with my brother and uncle. Why, God, why?! It really wasn’t that big of a deal, but I like to be melodramatic every once in a while. That hanger stabbed me right in the “webbing” between my ring finger and middle finger on my right hand. It peeled a pretty good chunk of skin off, too.
