The O’s look to at least split the series with Boston by taking Game 3 tonight. Wakefield was unable to fool the O’s offense with his wicked knuckleball, and gave up 7 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Wakefield had previously only allowed 2 home runs in the entire month of May, but gave up 3 home runs to the Orioles in one evening. Geronimo Gil belted a three run blast in the 2nd inning, and Miguel Tejada and Sammy Sosa hit back-to-back dingers in the 3rd.

Unbelievable. That’s all that can be said about this game. The O’s offense did a wonderful job of staying in this one, and eventually taking the lead late in the game to give the team a chance to take 3 of 4 from Boston. Unfortunately, the formidable David Ortiz came to the plate for Boston in the bottom of the ninth, with runners on first and second, and with 2 outs in the inning. B.J. Ryan was on the mound, and Ortiz had worked the count to 3 balls and 2 strikes. On the 7th pitch, Ortiz belted the ball to deep center for a game winning home run.

I was called out at work today. Apparently, to this one individual, it appears as though I fake laugh a lot (or seem to). Now, before you get all worried and wonder “does he fake laugh at me?!”, let me explain myself. I love to laugh. I love to make people laugh (try to, at least). For some reason, though, I find myself offering a pathetic “hehe” with a forced smile quite often, and it’s usually when I’m at work. I’m not sure why that is, though.

My wife and I are in the market for an ultra-compact digital camera. Actually, she’d probably tell you I’m in the market for one. That’s usually how any of our tech purchases go.
Even if she won’t admit it, we’re looking to buy a camera that allows for the greatest portability, but also takes crisp pictures. Here’s a list of what we’d like to see in the perfect ultra-compact camera:

As I opened the garage this morning to begin my arduous journey to work, I heard the sound of birds chirping out in the yard. The strange thing was these birds were chirping the tune of Will Smith’s “Switch”. So I started quietly singing the lyrics as I got into my Jeep. As I fired up the engine, the radio came on and Q101 was playing that very song! Woah.

The umpire that made the phantom balk call on Steve Kline was back to his usual antics, and blew 2 calls against Detroit to give the O’s a chance to attempt a comeback in the ninth inning of tonight’s game. The first bad call was when Sammy Sosa was hustling down the line after hitting a slow roller to the shortstop. The throw from the shortstop was high, pulling the first baseman off of the bag and into the air. Sammy appeared to get his left leg in and foot on the bag before the tag was applied, but the replay showed that the first baseman’s glove hit him in the chest before he touched the bag. The second blown call happened when B.J. Surhoff hit a sharp grounder back to the pitcher in what appeared to be a game-ending double play opportunity, but the pitcher threw it softly to the second baseman that was waiting to relay it to first. Because of that delay, the play at first was closer then it should have been, and B.J. appeared (again) to hit the bag at the same time that the first baseman caught the ball and he was called safe. Also again, the replay showed that B.J. was actually out.

Tonight, the O’s look to get only their 2nd win in 7 games this season against Detroit. Rodrigo Lopez will be on the mound for the O’s, and his past two outtings were impressive.

Daniel Cabrera pitches today for the O’s, as they look to take 2 of 3 from Detroit. Bringing up MLB’s Gameday, it appears as though the O’s have brought up some guys to fill some of the outfield positions. Ramon Nivar will be playing in center field, and Napoleon Calzado will be out in left. Welcome to the bigs, boys.
