O’s vs. Detroit - Game 3

Daniel Cabrera pitches today for the O’s, as they look to take 2 of 3 from Detroit. Bringing up MLB’s Gameday, it appears as though the O’s have brought up some guys to fill some of the outfield positions. Ramon Nivar will be playing in center field, and Napoleon Calzado will be out in left. Welcome to the bigs, boys.

@1:20 pm - That was quick. Dmitri Young belted a ball over the left field fence to give Detroit an early 2-0 lead. I hope Cabrera settles in soon and the O’s bats come alive, or this could get ugly! (I know, this is how things began yesterday…)

@2:10 pm - The O’s bats have come alive, and they’ve taken the lead. They were able to extend this inning thanks to a throwing error by Detroit’s shortstop, Carlos Guillen, giving the O’s an extra out. Rafael Palmeiro, Chris Gomez, and Melvin Mora all contributed singles, and Jay Gibbons added a double. Sal Fasano and newbie Ramon Nivar hit infield RBI grounders, which resulted in one throwing error and an out.

@2:50 pm - The Tigers are almost trying to beat themselves today. They’re up to 3 errors in the game, and another run for the O’s due to an errant throw. We’re still producing, though, as Fasano had a double, Nivar added a single, and Mora had a sac fly to increase the lead to 6-2 in the 7th.

The O’s took 2 of 3 in Detroit, and their record is now 34-22.
