Coming to a town near you

Meg and I were off and running again this weekend, heading to NOVA for a bridal shower, to Baltimore for a bachelor party, and to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to visit the family. While Meg hung out with the ladies Saturday afternoon, oooh-ing and aaah-ing at the lovely shower gifts, I got to hang out with the boys and play some more Texas Hold’em (and warm up with a few beers). Close to 5:00 pm on Saturday, though, Meg came knocking. We drove to our friend’s place, where we were going to crash for the night, and met up with Meg’s brother Scott who was also attending the bachelor party festivities that evening.

Meg then was kind enough to chaperone Scott and I into Baltimore, but since there was an O’s game that night (we were tempted to get some tickets and watch the game ;) ) she dropped us off just inside the city and fought her way out of Baltimore. Scott and I then walked a mile or so and met up with the rest of the guys at the Ram’s Head Tavern in the Power Plant Live! area of downtown Baltimore. I had a wonderful meal there (the food is excellent), and the group then spent the next 6 hours bar-hopping and making sure Bryan (the bachelor) had an enjoyable time. :)

Meg, being the sweetheart that she is, drove into Baltimore in the late evening hours with her wonderful friend Kim, to pick-up her heavily inebriated husband and brother. Apparently we were a little raucous, but we made it back to Kim and Dave’s safely to crash for the evening.

On Sunday, we hit the road and went down to the Eastern Shore of Maryland for a surprise visit to see the family for Father’s Day. We were able to have a pleasant meal at the Atlantic Stand on the Boardwalk in Ocean City (I love that place), and then swing over to see my grandparents. After being there for an hour, though, we knew it was time to hit the road.

The trip back was anything but enjoyable. We hit heavy traffic several miles before the Bay Bridge, and periodically along the way after that. The trip ended up taking about one-and-a-half hours longer then it should have. Luckily, we split it up a couple of times by first stopping for dinner in Easton, and then meeting up with my sister and her husband (that’s the first time I’ve said that!) in Alexandria. There, Meg and I had some delicious brownies. :)

Finally, close to midnight, we were home. Hard to imagine that in 7 days I’ll be on the road again…
