O’s vs. Atlanta - Game 1

Boy it sure has been tough being an O’s fan lately. The Orioles have stalled as of late, which has allowed the Red Sox to move within a half game of the lead in the division. Tonight, though, it’s going to be tough to watch for a different reason.

The O’s are playing Atlanta tonight, and the only coverage I’ll get is on TBS, which is Brave’s TV. Now I know that Mr. Jim Palmer can surely sound quite a bit biased in his coverage, but it’s hard to top those Brave’s announcers. Those guys are so quick at turning something positive for the opposing team to sounding like it’s the end of the world for their own. Even worse is when something good happens to Atlanta. I’ll probably have to watch the game on mute just to get through it. ;)

Hayden Penn is on the mound for Baltimore tonight, and I hope he has the same stuff he’s had his previous few starts. The key, though, is if the O’s can get their bats going and get out to a lead early. The way they’ve played as of late, it hasn’t been that much fun to watch, so I’m expecting a lot out of the team during this series. This is a must win if the O’s want to stay atop their division.

@10:10 pm - Nothing to see here. Booo.

  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
BAL 1 0 0 3 1 0 0 0 0 5 10 1
ATL 3 3 1 0 0 0 0 0 X 7 11 0

The O’s record is now 42-31. They are now in second place in the A. L. East, behind the Boston Red Sox. Grrr.
