Meet the Thompsons!

Meg and I had an extended weekend, heading home for the wedding celebration of Meg’s sister, Court, and Bryan. The weather was on the warm and sticky side, with an apparent threat of rain at times, but all-in-all it was an absolutely beautiful weekend for a wedding. We both took Friday off so that we could assist with last-minute preparations (though there weren’t many), and to mostly make sure that we were going to be home on time (or else we’d feel the wrath of Patty! ;) ).

The best part about my Saturday morning was that I was actually able to sleep in while we were staying at Meg’s parents house. :) Meg had to get up early in the morning with her sister and mother, to take care of various wedding tasks. My only responsibility was to chauffeur the groom and best man around during the day to meet up with the rest of the groomsmen to try on our tuxes and then meet at a local sports bar for food and drinks. Later that evening, the wedding party met at the church for the rehearsal, and then at the Paradiso Italian Restaurant for a delicious dinner.

The next morning, I got to witness a flurry of activity as the girls had their makeup done (after they had already been out to get their hair done), the bride was helped with getting into her wedding dress, pictures were taken, and flowers were delivered — so I just did my best to get ready and stay out of the way. The photographer showed up around 11:00 am, and after I participated in all of the pictures I needed to be in, Scott and I headed to the church to deliver the corsages and boutonnieres.

The rest of the evening almost seems like a blur. I had such a wonderful time, especially since Meg and I had our reception at the same place as Court and Bryan, but it was just so nice being able to take it all in as a spectator instead of the main event. :) The dinner was delicious, and I was able to party with my family that night as my sister and her husband, and my mom and dad made the trip for the wedding celebration. I must say that thanks to the superior planning abilities of Patty and Court, everything went off without a hitch, and everyone was able to worry about only one thing, and that was enjoying themselves.

Most importantly, though, thanks for allowing me to be a part of your special day, Court and Bryan! It was about as perfect of a weekend as it could have been. :)
