We had our “official” appointment with our obstetrician today, and everything looks great!
Meg is in her 11th week, and the due date is still set for February 7, 2006. I wish I had something new to report (I was hoping we’d be able to hear a heartbeat…but it’s still too early) but not much has changed since our “emergency” appointment almost two weeks ago. Our next appointment is in 4 weeks, and I hope to have some goodies to write about then!

I’m experiencing some discomfort when I breathe deeply, and I can’t figure out why. Tonight, Meg and I went to visit some friends of ours for dinner and shopping in Charlottesville. (Well, Meg went shopping and I enjoyed a tall, frosty beverage). As we were saying goodbye to our friends in the parking lot of the bar we had patronized, I started to feel a dull pain from what felt like under the lower part of my ribs on my right side. I had just gorged myself on some delicious food from Lord Hardwick’s (I highly recommend eating there if you’re in the area), so I figured it was something to do with how stuffed I was, and that it would subside later in the evening. It still hasn’t.

I know, I’m in the middle of a “boycott“. I have MLB’s Gameday up, so that I can periodically peek in on the O’s game tonight (they’re playing away against Seattle), and I happened to notice that Rafael Palmeiro was at bat, and that he still hadn’t had a hit yet in tonight’s game. Earlier, I had seen a banner on the official Orioles web site announcing that Palmeiro was 1 hit shy of 3,000 hits, which is quite a milestone in Major League Baseball.

Besides Meg and I attending seven weddings this year, we’ve also had several of our friends get engaged! The next to take the plunge is my ex-roomie and great buddy, Jon. Jon asked his girlfriend Liz to do the unthinkable this past Sunday, and she said YES! The tentative date for a wedding is sometime in September of 2006. Congratulations to you two, I’m very excited about this wonderful news, and can’t wait to see you at the Buhl-Grove wedding in October! (And another one bites the dust…)

» This one is for you, Meg.
It looks like Daylight-Saving Time is going to be extended! An energy bill is currently being negotiated by the House and Senate that includes an amendment to extend the amount of daylight-saving time by starting three weeks earlier, on the second Sunday in March, and ending one week later, on the first Sunday in November. Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., states that the reason for this adjustment to daylight-saving time is because “we all just feel sunnier after we set the clocks ahead.” The legislation is expected to be passed next week. I’ve been following the Orioles games over the past few weeks, tuning in occassionally to see if they’ve regained that spark that they had throughout the first part of the season, and I’ve been extremely disappointed in what I’ve seen. The O’s are a completely different team now, struggling to compete with any team they play, even against teams that are struggling in their division. So I had to make a list (to let out my frustration) of why the Orioles are doing so poorly, and why they won’t make it to the postseason:

Unfortunately, because of a database problem, the gallery of photos is currently down. I just gave out the address to the site this past weekend to a lot of friends and family, and of course, it went kaput. I’m hoping to get it back up and running in the next couple of days. Sorry!
