Happy Anniversary!

October 19th, 2005 Me Meg

Today is the day that Meg and I got married, 3 years ago. It seems like time has flown by since then, and it will probably only seem to go by even quicker now that we’re expecting a new member of the family in a few months. :) So, happy anniversary my dear, and here’s to many more wonderful years of love, happiness, excitement, and painting! (You know there will be lots of painting…)

Fireworks extravaganza, without leaving the neighborhood!

July 5th, 2005 Images Me Meg

One of our neighbors on the cul-de-sac that Meg and I live on in our subdivision has made it a habit of having a fireworks show each year, located in his backyard. His house is in a great spot, on the very end of the cul-de-sac, with the back facing a cow pasture. Therefore, he has plenty of open space to have his show, without the risk of damaging a neighboring house. Over the past couple of years that we’ve resided in this area, another gentleman from the neighborhood has partnered up with our neighbor to increase the stockpile of fireworks set off on July 4th. The two of them will make a trip down to South Carolina at some point in the year, to buy as much as they want (or can) of the “good” (illegal) fireworks. Even better is the fact that other individuals in our subdivision also hold their own fireworks show, so we can usually look in several different directions and see a decent show.

Another beautiful wedding

July 3rd, 2005 Me Meg

Meg and I attended the wedding celebration of our friends Saurin and Michael today. They had a beautiful service held outside at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, VA. Following the ceremony, there was a cocktail hour in the lounge, and then an American-ized (so that us mere mortals could handle it ;) ) Indian cuisine dinner in one of the great ballrooms. A lot of our JMU friends were in attendance, which made for one heck of a time. Meg and I had a blast catching up with our friends that we don’t get to see as much as we would like, and dancing the night away. Later in the reception, some of the guys (including me) decided to see if we could get into the honeymoon suite to have a little fun with the lovely newlyweds. Thanks to an extremely helpful security guard, we were able to. There were quite a few pranks put into place (probably too much, looking back on it now and sober) but it was all in good fun, and I hope Saurin and Michael weren’t too upset with our tomfoolery and shenanigans. :)

Coming to a town near you

June 21st, 2005 Me Meg

Meg and I were off and running again this weekend, heading to NOVA for a bridal shower, to Baltimore for a bachelor party, and to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to visit the family. While Meg hung out with the ladies Saturday afternoon, oooh-ing and aaah-ing at the lovely shower gifts, I got to hang out with the boys and play some more Texas Hold’em (and warm up with a few beers). Close to 5:00 pm on Saturday, though, Meg came knocking. We drove to our friend’s place, where we were going to crash for the night, and met up with Meg’s brother Scott who was also attending the bachelor party festivities that evening.

On the road again

June 13th, 2005 Me Meg

Boy did I have a busy weekend. After work on Friday, Meg and I travelled up to Baltimore (separately) to stay at her parents house since she was having a bridal shower for her sister Court, and I was going to be heading to Dewey Beach for a group bachelor party weekend the following morning. We were up fairly late Friday evening (as we tend to be when we visit the Smiths ;) ) but I was able to get on the road close to 9 a.m. on Saturday. I arrived in Dewey close to lunch and had a great couple of days hanging out with the boys, playing some Texas Hold ‘em, hitting the bars, and causing the usual amount of ruckus that’s to be expected from our group.

A perfect day

May 30th, 2005 Family Me Meg

Besides the one downpour early in the morning that soaked the groomsmen (the super-smart groom had an umbrella), the day was absolutely perfect for the wedding and reception for Nick and Jen. I don’t think things could have been planned any better! I started off my day by heading over to Salisbury early (around 10:45 am) to pick-up the replacement jacket for my tux. My original jacket was a wee bit too large, causing me to look like I was swimming in it. That sounds even worse when you consider that I’m 6′3″ and 200 lbs. (I’m a hoss). ;) Since pictures were to be held at 11:00 am at Salisbury University’s rose garden, I was a little worried that I’d be late and cause everything to be pushed back (which is completely unacceptable when it’s your sister’s wedding day).
