Since our little girl is quite fond of man’s best friend, Meg bought a Fisher-Price “Lil’ Snoopy” for her to play with! This video shows Maddy spending her first moments with Snoopy, in which she carries it around (she’s not quite familiar with the leash yet), pets it, and gives it kisses. It’s only a matter of time before we have to get her a real dog…

Maddy and I were hanging out this past weekend when she decided to start reading to me from one of her books while walking around the room.
I love hearing her chatter, so I captured some of it on video!

Nana brought out the Maddy-sized rocking chair when we were visiting this past weekend, and Maddy quickly got the idea of how it worked. These videos show Maddy’s later attempts at climbing up into the chair (I get a little jumpy when I think the chair is about to fall over backwards in one of the videos) and Maddy doing her best attempt to “rock” herself…

While Grandma and Grandpa were in Florida on vacation, they sent Maddy a postcard with Mickey and Minnie pictured on the front. And even though we’re trying to teach Maddy about different types of animals, she saw the postcard and thought that it was a picture of her favorite animal, and excitedly said hello to the “doggies!” This video shows Maddy taking Mickey and Minnie on a walk around the kitchen…

Maddy took me on a mini-adventure this evening, this time starting in the office and ending up in the family room. She shows off how much more steady she is with her walking, does some exploring, flails her one arm (and loses her balance because of it), and re-enacts some more Maddy-zilla moments. Enjoy!

Maddy is getting more and more comfortable with walking on her own, and Meg was able to catch some more of the action on camera! While she walks she holds her arms straight up in the air, so she looks like a monster coming at you, but it is very cute.
This video shows Maddy before bedtime, which includes her cozy-ing up with a pillow, and hiding from mommy behind a chair…

Maddy showed just how much she pays attention to her mommy when she decided to pick up a little pink purse and acted like she was ready to hit the mall!

No more walkers and no more help, this time Maddy walks all by herself! A day after her first birthday, Maddy shocked Meg and I by taking her first few steps on her own! She was standing at the couch, trying to climb up, when she decided to turn around, and with a sly grin on her face, she took a few steps away from the couch before plopping to the floor. The first video below captures the subsequent attempts by Maddy to walk again, and the second video shows more attempts by Maddy before she takes a rough tumble and bumps her head (the video stops before the *bonk*). Way to go, Maddy!
